Making a Difference

Annual day of volunteer community service scheduled April 27
Celebrate Service... Celebrate Yates is about more than spring cleanup.
It's about making the community a better place to live and work.
The 11th annual event is scheduled Sunday, April 27, from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Each year, Celebrate Service... Celebrate Yates volunteers help local non-profit organizations, agencies and citizens by clearing trails, making neighborhoods safer, painting, cleaning, and serving senior citizens and children.

Last year, 160 volunteers performed tasks at 14 sites, including Camp Cory, where they stained new decking; Camp Good Days, where they set up bunks in cabins; and Yates County Recreation Resources, where they washed windows and cleaned blinds.
Finger Lakes Health, Graphic Connections, Knapp & Schlappi Lumber, Keuka College Student Senate, K-Ventures, Silgan Plastics, Sodexho, Stork Insurance, Yates County ARC, and the Yates County Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 2007 event.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. To learn more about becoming a sponsor, call the Chamber of Commerce at (315) 536-3111. To learn more about volunteering, or if you are interested in your agency or organization becoming a work site that day, call Keuka College's Office of Campus Ministries at (315) 279-5377.
