Enrollment is up nearly 4 percent this fall.

The College’s total enrollment stands at 1,676, up 3.9 percent from the fall of 2008. The figure includes 524 new students:  255 freshmen, 70 transfers, and 199 Accelerated Studies for Adults Program (ASAP) students.

Total ASAP enrollment is 708, a 9 percent hike over a year ago,

Some 4,500 Chinese students are pursuing Keuka degrees at the College’s four partner universities in that country. Keuka boasts the largest enrollment of any American college or university operating in China.

Freshmen came to Keuka from seven states, including New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, as well as two countries: Canada and China.

The College continued to attract a number of freshmen from area high schools, with Marcus Whitman and Penn Yan leading the way with nine apiece. Horseheads sent six students to Keuka this fall followed by Palmyra-Macedon, Sherburne-Earlville, MynderseAcademy (Seneca Falls), and T.J. Corcoran (Syracuse) with four apiece. Livonia, Newark, Corning East, and Charlotte each sent three.

The top feeder school in terms of transfers was Finger Lakes Community College, followed by Monroe Community College, and Corning Community College.

Women make up 70 percent of the freshman class and 75 percent of the transfers.

In terms of majors, the most popular choice among freshmen and transfers was unified childhood/special education, followed by occupational science, criminology, and unified early childhood education.
