Updated: Friday, November 13, 2009
Five suspected cases of H1N1 so far; College establishes information center on Web, phone lines for updates, assistance
As predicted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local and state health care organizations, H1N1 Flu is on the rise on college campuses.
As of Sept. 16, there have been five suspected cases on campus. Four of those individuals are home while the fifth (a student) has been cleared by her physician to return to campus.
College Physician Dr. Lisa Reinard reports that health care professionals in the Keuka Park/Penn Yan area are seeing slightly different H1N1 symptoms than those originally described. Symptoms now include:
- Intestinal Pain
- Cramping
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
Others:
- Fever
- Cough
- Sore Throat
- Body Aches
- Headache
- Chills
- Fatigue
Students who feel they are sick should contact Health Services (315-279-5368) during normal business hours (9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.), or call the College Health Hotline (315-279-5999) after hours.
