Keuka College Professor of English Anne Weed has been named vice president for academic affairs.

“Dr. Weed is an outstanding selection for this position,” said College President Joseph G. Burke. “She is a superb teacher and mentor and a gifted administrator. She is widely respected across our entire faculty for her commitment to academic excellence and faculty governance. She is also well versed in our academic mission, our values and the culture of Keuka College.”

“I look forward to the challenges of serving the educational mission of Keuka College in this new position, and I am excited to begin working in this new role with such an extraordinary corps of dedicated professionals,” said Weed.

Weed, a resident of Shortsville and graduate of Geneva High School, came to Keuka in 1993 as an adjunct faculty member and became full time in 1997. Prior to Keuka, she taught at Finger Lakes Community College. Selected Keuka’s Professor of the Year in 2007-08, she has taught composition and courses in the novel, American literature, and ethnic literatures.

Weed has chaired the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts since 2006 and serves on the Curriculum Committee and First-Year Experience Committee. She has chaired a number of key faculty governance and search committees, and has served on numerous ad hoc faculty and campus-wide committees. Additionally, she was involved in the Middle States Association reaccreditation process from 1999-2001.

Weed has published numerous articles in professional publications and delivered presentations as part of the National Endowment for the Humanities Public Library Lecture Series, at the Mid-Atlantic Popular/American Culture Association Conference, and Annual Central New York Conference on Language and Literature.

Weed earned a doctorate and Master of Arts in English from the University of Rochester and a Bachelor of Arts in English and French from Goucher College.
