The Power of Pink

After wearing pink uniforms to raise breast cancer awareness, Storm win NEAC tourney and earn trip to NCAAs
The women’s basketball team closed out the regular season on a 12-game winning streak, the last four in pink uniforms.
Coach Dave Sweet’s team then won three more in its traditional uniforms to win the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) and earn a trip to the NCAA Division III tournament for the second time in three years.

The Storm will travel to
Keuka, 17-7 on the campaign, earned an automatic bid to the 63-team NCAA tourney by capturing the NEAC title with a 76-57 win over Penn State-Berks Sunday (March 1) at Cobleskill.
The women’s and men’s basketball teams, along with the synchronized swimming squad, donned pink for home contests Feb. 15-21 to raise awareness of breast cancer. The men’s team sported pink wrist bands while the synchronized swimmers wore pink skull caps for their home meet against Canisius.
In addition to raising awareness, the College raised funds for the Kay Yow Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Cancer Fund. Yow, the longtime
The jerseys worn by the women’s hoop team were auctioned, with proceeds going to the fund, as was money raised from t-shirt sales. The t-shirts were printed with a famous Yow quote.
