Maria Hoover paintings on display in Lightner Gallery
Recent paintings by Hall resident Maria Hoover are on display in the Lightner Library Gallery through Oct. 3.
The gallery is open Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-11 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Sunday, noon-11 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
A 2008 graduate of Pratt Institute, Hoover has taken part in group exhibits at Pratt and Output, both in Brooklyn, and the Hans Winkler Walking Newspaper Project in New York City.
During her tenure at Pratt, she was involved in the department of art and design education’s Saturday Art School, a teaching laboratory where all classes are taught by education students who are supervised by Pratt faculty. Students learn in a college environment where they explore a variety of media, techniques, and approaches.
A former printmaking teacher and counselor at Long Lake Camp for the Arts, she is experienced in bookbinding and page layout, myriad printmaking techniques, and anatomical and figure drawing.
