Works by Pappas showcased in Lightner Gallery
Journey, a show of paintings using theme repetition, sensory reaction, and visual energy by Buffalo artist Jim Pappas, will be on display in Keuka College’s Lightner Library Gallery through Aug. 15.
The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Born in Syracuse, Pappas studied art at Madison High School in Rochester. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Buffalo. A member of the faculty of the Department of African American Studies at his alma mater, Pappas teaches classes in painting, drawing, and black cinema studies.
A community activist, Pappas serves on several Buffalo-area boards and committees including the Burchfield-Penny Art Center, City of Buffalo Arts Commission, and the New York State Council on the Arts. Pappas also sits on the Buffalo Niagara Cultural Tourism Steering Committee.
Pappas has exhibited his work as a solo artist in shows in the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean. Closer to home, Pappas work has been featured in the Memorial Art Gallery (Rochester) and several of his works are part of public and private collections.
His wife, Dorothy, is a 1958 Keuka graduate.
