John Locke selected director of instructional design in Wertman Office of Distance Education
He formerly served as coordinator for the Accelerated Studies for Adults Program’s (ASAP) management (master’s degree) and organizational management (bachelor’s degree) programs.

Locke will work with faculty members and other subject experts to craft instructional support materials for both traditional and online delivery.
“As technology continues to evolve, the possibilities for new and exciting ways to deliver instructional content are virtually endless,” said Locke. “I look forward to collaborating with [Director of Educational Technology] Jeff Snow and others on campus to design and produce interactive tools that will enable our ASAP faculty to surpass the high level of quality they currently deliver to our students.”
Locke brings more than 20 years experience in communication arts—in traditional and new media—to the position. As electronic publications manager at the University of Rochester Medical Center, he worked with personnel from the Miner Library to design courseware and teach administrators and faculty how to use Web technology as a means of augmenting course content delivery.
As co-owner and creative director of BadDog Digital Productions, Locke set up a cooperative learning program for information technology majors from Rochester Institute of Technology. He worked with as many as eight students each semester, providing real-world experience in Web- and CD-ROM based interactive design and programming.
He has written, produced and directed many multimedia presentations, including a 120-minute documentary on US/Cuban relations, as well as various corporate training videos and programs delivered both online and via DVD.
