Austin MacRae '01 returns in the Spotlight
Austin MacRae ’01 came back to his alma mater April 29 to give a poetry reading to students, staff and faculty.
As part of the Spotlight Series, MacRae read from his recent chapbook, Graceways, as well as works by Professor of English Robert Darling.
“Austin is a master of words and of the sonnet,” said Darling. “In fact, one of his sonnets was printed in the anthology 150 Contemporary Sonnets.”
A writing tutor and adjunct English instructor at Tompkins Cortland Community College, MacRae is also the author of The Second Rose, a chapbook.
His poetry has appeared in such journals as The Formalist, Pivot, Blue Unicorn, Edge City Review, Lyric, and, of course, Keuka's Red Jacket, among others. He has also published several book reviews in Expansive Poetry & Music Online.
In addition to his poetry, MacRae has released a debut CD, Songs of Austin MacRae. The singer/songwriter plays all of the instruments on the disk.
